Shipping: Domestic: I charge a flat rate of $12.00 for shipping and handling on all orders shipped within the lower 48 states. Packages are shipped by USPS parcel post, which is the most economical method available. I can also ship via other service carriers (FedEx, UPS, or DHL) at an increased cost, if desired. If you would like to have a psaltery mailed at a faster rate by air, (via USPS Priority Mail or others), I can provide this service at an increased shipping cost. (Contact me for an exact rate.) Because a bowed psaltery is light, yet somewhat large, transporting them by air increases the shipping cost substantially. This is because when a package gets to a certain size, it is billed by its "dimensional weight." That is to say, it doesn't matter how heavy it is, shipping is instead calculated by the size. Basically, it takes up too much room on the airplane! International: I also ship internationally via USPS Priority Mail International, which is by far the most economical international option available. I cannot give an exact quote on shipping due to the widely varying rates and fee schedules depending on the instrument's destination. Typically, Canada and Mexico are a little less than overseas shipping. You should expect to pay around $25 to Canada, and $35 to Mexico, with overseas shipments ranging from $40 to $55 (or more). There may also be any number of applicable duty and customs taxes depending on the country of origin. Please note that all of these prices are simply estimates to give you a rough idea as to the cost of an international shipment. Free free to email me for an exact quote for your area. I regret to say that I do not yet have any sort of showroom, though if you are local, you may order an instrument online and then pick it up in person and save on shipping costs. (There is also a 6.9% local sales tax applicable to all local sales, and either a 6.75% or 6.5% state sales tax for all other orders shipped to a Minnesota address, depending on where in Minnesota you live.) Custom Tuning Wrenches: If you are ordering a custom wrench without a psaltery, please refer to the shipping rates and information found in Archimedes' Workshop. Ordering: I have intentionally made the ordering process non-automated, yet at the same time easy and convenient. Since a fair amount of orders are for custom work or one-of-a-kind items, I chose to use this ordering system to avoid any possible confusion that could arise about the availability and/or pricing on certain items. I also thought it would be advantageous to be able to look the order over and possibly discuss any matters regarding the order before any sort of payment is collected. I aim to make the ordering process convenient—but also thorough and accurate. In a nutshell, the ordering process is as follows:
*It is not necessary to have a PayPal account to pay with a credit card. When you follow the link in the invoice, you will have the option of bypassing a PayPal account. (As circled in red below.) And as stated above, I will gladly take a personal check or money order by mail too.
Returns: I offer a 30-day, money-back guarantee on all psalteries and accessories. Within the first 30 days, you may return your instrument for whatever reason for a full refund, minus your cost to ship it back to me. Once I receive the returned items back, I will issue the refund in the same way that the payment was made. (i.e., if you paid with a credit card, I will credit the money back to your card.)
